There are two different types of analog gateways:

FXS Gateways are analog gateways fitted with FXS ports which help you connect legacy telephones and analog phone systems to IP telephony networks.
FXO Gateways are analog gateways fitted with FXO ports which help you connect analog telephone lines to your IP-based phone system or help you connect your legacy phone system network to a VoIP network or SIP trunk.

Sangoma Gateways are available in both FXS and FXO varieties with 4 or 8 ports.
